So, you’ve got a new product or campaign to launch and you need a landing page. There are so many tools that promise you to build a landing page in minutes. Sounds so easy! But let’s be real, it never actually takes just a few minutes — unless you’re some sort of landing page wizard.

The truth is, when you sit down to write the copy for your landing page, anxiety kicks in. What do you actually want to say to your audience? What will convince them to buy your product? How should you structure the text? What are the most important things and in what order?

This can create a massive writer’s block and you can wave goodbye to creating that landing page in just a few minutes. But don’t worry, I know how to help.

I’ve been in your shoes before, and that’s why I’ve created a simple process to keep me focused and churn out a landing page in under 30 minutes. And the best part? It’s so easy that even your grandma could do it. Let me show you my simple process.

Jobs To Be Done without doing the job

I start the process with a simple framework:

  1. Know who you’re talking to
  2. Know what they’re trying to achieve or what pain they’re trying to solve
  3. Explain how your product does that for them
  4. Address any objections

It’s still pretty high-level and not actionable, but it does a great job of keeping you focused. It leverages the “creative limitation” concept, which means that purposely limiting yourself can actually drive creativity.

Now that you’ve created constraints for yourself you’re ready to take the next step: understand your target audience.

For that, you need to create a buyer’s persona.

But come on, “persona” has gotten such a bad rap. Founders, product managers, and growth marketers have been creating these useless things for years. This used to cost weeks, sometimes even months of research and work. And for what? An old dusty piece of documentation that helps build zero landing pages and nobody ever looks back at it.

I’m telling you, those days are over.
